2001 Onwards, an Unwavering Commitment
In 2001, REAL SPORTS magazine, which the New York Times dubbed The Authority in Women's Sports, evolved to an annual edition documenting the "Most Important Moments in Sports". For over 20 years as an independent media outlet not beholden to outside advertisers and outside interests, REAL SPORTS serves as the passionate historian for women’s sports. In addition to celebrating and lifting up the accomplishments of female athletes, it also holds women's sports organizations accountable.

A labor of love, this yearly chronicle is curated by a team of editors, reporters, photographers, and others with deep professional and personal interest and experience in women's sports. REAL SPORTS leverages its unmatched reputation as an independent voice, earned while competing against Sports Illustrated Women and Conde Nast Women’s Sports & Fitness, to continue raising awareness and visibility to the outstanding athletic pursuits embodied by women's sports.
